The current extremely expansive monetary policy of the European Central Bank (ECB) has led to a broad public debate.
In view of historically low, in some cases negative, interest rates and a bond purchase program on an unprecedented scale, it is not only experts who are concerned about the risks of this policy.
Against this background, Faculty W hosted Mr. Markus Altmann from the German Bundesbank, Head Office Saxony and Thuringia, on 7 June 2016. He gave a lecture on "The monetary policy of the Eurosystem and current developments" and, after some introductory basics, went into detail about the ECB's monetary policy strategy and its monetary policy in extraordinary times. Of course, Mr. Altmann was available to answer numerous questions from the audience.
