Under the title "Dresden, Crete and back", the University Library in Zittau is presenting works by the Dresden artist Klaus Mand. The opening of the exhibition took place on February 10 and the Director of the University Library, Dr. Konschak, welcomed all those present and introduced the painter and graphic artist. During the subsequent tour, all visitors were able to take in the works of art.
Klaus Mand trained as a painter with well-known artists from the "Ufer" group - Gerhard David, Rolf Krause and Karl-Erich Schäfer. He initially worked as a commercial artist and design manager. He then went to the Staatsschauspiel Dresden and remained there as a graphic designer for 25 years. Klaus Mand then lived as a freelance artist.
His art reflects his spiritual feelings during the artistic process. He meditates while painting and paints while meditating. His friend Klaus Liebscher wrote about Klaus Mand's art: "We are drawn into his paintings. We see natural spaces as the painter saw them, we sense his perspectives, memories and experiences." The guests, many of them from Dresden, have already been completely immersed in the paintings and graphics.
Anyone interested can view these works of art during the University Library's opening hours until June 27, 2014.
