Syrian Sami Shmayess has lived in Görlitz since the end of 2015. He learned German here, has been working in the city since 2016 and is involved in the group "Syrlitz" (Syrians in Görlitz) to promote understanding between Syrian refugees and locals. His talk will provide an insight into the history, everyday life, cultural differences between different regions and working life in his country and will address cultural and social differences between Syria and Germany. Afterwards, the speaker hopes to get into conversation with his audience and will be happy to answer their questions.
