As part of this year's disenrolment (from university) ceremony, the FERCHAU Sponsorship Award was presented to a graduate of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences for the first time.
On behalf of FERCHAU Engineering GmbH, personnel officer Dirk Wieltsch presented the award.
Mr. Jens Maiwald was honored for his achievements during his studies. He received his degree in energy economics and energy technology with the grade "very good". Mr. Maiwald was particularly deserving of the award thanks to his Diplom thesis, which received the highest grade.
Under the supervision of Prof. Schütte and in cooperation with the engineering company for energy systems VPC GmbH, an active contribution was made to the conservation of resources in practice under the title "Development of a simulation model to optimize the use of CHP systems in combined operation".
The specific aim of the work was to economically optimize the use of an existing heat-led plant fleet in Berlin based on a given load profile. A suitable calculation tool was developed taking into account the technical conditions.
On the basis of the calculation results and the comparison with characteristic data from practice, it was shown where there is potential for improvement in plant operation. The high flexibility of the simulation model can also be used to check the influence of a plant expansion or dismantling on the operation of the plant fleet.
