The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences has joined the Open Access transformation agreement between the DEAL consortium and the publisher Elsevier. From now on, reading access to approx. 2,500 e-journals from Elsevier (including Cell Press and The Lancet titles) is active via the ScienceDirect database.

Access to the full texts is possible in the campus network and for university members also from outside the campus via VPN, Shibboleth and EZProxy.

In addition, members of the HSZG with the status submitting corresponding author can publish Open Access in Elsevier's core hybrid journals, including the Cell Press and The Lancet hybrid journals. The costs are covered by the Publish & Read component of the contract. For publications in Elsevier Fully Gold Open Access journals, the institution is granted a 20% discount from the list price on publication charges (APCs) and a 15% discount for the Fully Gold Cell Press and The Lancet journals.

The contract period is 5 years (until 31.12.2028).
