In the "GreenPharming" project, biological active ingredients are being developed in tobacco plants, taking into account the circular economy and climate neutrality. As part of this interdisciplinary project, the infiltration of tobacco plants and downstream processing in particular are being optimized at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.

The position holder will support the scientific staff in the project by, among other things:

• Cultivation and harvesting of tobacco plants,
• Preparation of agrobacteria and vectors for the infiltration of tobacco plants,
• Purification of recombinant proteins from plant material,
• Participation in laboratory organization.

The following knowledge and skills are required

• Completed training as a state-certified biological-technical assistant or comparable,
• Knowledge of molecular biological and protein biochemical techniques, in particular polymerase chain reaction (PCR), SDS-PAGE and affinity chromatography,
• Interest in scientific work in biotechnology,
• Ability to work independently and responsibly,
• Good organizational skills.

In addition, the following are desirable

• Experience in the cultivation of plants and bacteria,
• Knowledge in the field of plant biotechnology is an advantage.
