Dear students,
The LRK (Landesrektor*innenkonferenz) has agreed with the state that it is considered sensible not to include the summer semester 2020 in the standard period of study. The universities themselves remain responsible for implementation and therefore also for deciding whether this should apply to all students and degree programs.
We are calling for this decision to be made at our university in consultation with the student body.
We believe that waiting for this decision to determine whether there is a coronavirus case at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is fatally flawed. We are calling for a quick decision so that there is planning security for students.
According to our current discussions with the Rectorate, they are still considering not counting the semester as part of the standard period of study. Various departments at the university are planning how it will be counted and how exactly teaching will continue from 04.05.20, the results will be published next week.
As the student council of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, we support the student catalog of demands for the semester design of 'Solidarsemester 2020' (solidarsemester.de/#Semestergestaltung) and call on the decision-makers at our university to take these demands into account.

StuRa supports solidarity semester 2020
Dear students,
the LRK (Landesrektor*innenkonferenz) has agreed with the state of saxony that it is considered sensible not to include the SoSe 2020 in the standard period of study. The universities themselves remain responsible for the implementation and thus also for the decision whether this should apply to all students or degree programs.
We demand that this decision be made at our university in agreement with the student council.
To wait for this decision as to whether there is a Corona case at the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz is fatally wrong in our opinion. We demand a quick decision so that there is planning security for the students.
The rectorship is at the moment planning to change their plans and not include this semester to the standard period of study. The concrete strategy for this semesters education will be published next week.
We, as the student council of the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz, fully support the student catalogue of demands for the semester design of 'Solidarsemester 2020' (solidarsemester.de/#Semestergestaltung) and call on the decision makers at our university to take these demands into consideration.
