Student exchange with UNECON St. Petersburg decided

From 9 to 14 September, Prof. Dr. Falk Maiwald visited UNECON St. Petersburg as part of the ERASMUS+ program, as he did in 2018. He made new contacts and was able to expand the basis for cooperation between the two universities.

Guest lectures on digitalization and Work 4.0

The technical focus of his stay was on guest lectures to Bachelor's and Master's students on the effects of digitalization on various areas of the economy. At the Faculty of Business and Finance, he held two classes / courses on the topic of Work 4.0 / New Work. At the Faculty of Service, Tourism and Hospitality, he gave a lecture and discussion on the digital transformation of business models, particularly in the hotel industry.

Exploring future scientific collaboration

Prof. Maiwald, who has worked in the finance and banking sector for several years, met with the Dean and other professors from the Faculty of Business, Economics and Finance to explore academic collaboration and took part in an international symposium on the past and future of banks in Russia and Germany.

Scholarships for an English-language study semester in St. Petersburg

At the Faculty of Service, Tourism and Hospitality, Prof. Maiwald discussed a specific student exchange program with the Dean and the Head of the Hotel and Catering Department, for which the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences was successful in acquiring ERAMUS+ scholarships.

The first HSZG students will go to St. Petersburg in the 2020/21 winter semester - and vice versa. At UNECON, they will be able to choose from an attractive portfolio of English-language modules within the International Semester .

A call for applications for two scholarships at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, which will amount to around €700 per month plus travel expenses, will start in January 2020.

For the first time, the Faculty of Managerial and Cultural Studies will also invite two UNECON professors to take part in a lecturer exchange in the winter semester 2020/21.
