Ms. Katja Klötzer, chemistry student in class K-NCb12, has been awarded an August Wilhelm von Hofmann Scholarship. This scholarship was advertised throughout Germany. Talent, academic performance and the applicant's financial situation were the selection criteria for the Board of Trustees when awarding the scholarship.
August Wilhelm von Hofmann (1818 - 1892), the founding president of the first German chemical society, gave his name to this foundation of the German Chemical Society (GDCh). It awards scholarships to undergraduate chemistry students.
The Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker owes its endowment capital to a member who died in 2010 and bequeathed a considerable portion of his assets to the GDCh for a specific purpose. He stipulated that his assets should be used to support chemistry students after his death.
