Special readers improve accessibility

Inclusion measures for visually impaired users increase service quality of the University Library

The University Library wants to make the library experience as pleasant and uncomplicated as possible for all people with disabilities.

New reading aids have therefore been procured for visually impaired users at both University Library locations. These reading devices use a video camera to enlarge the printed text (2 - 50 x) and display it on a screen. The devices are characterized by very simple operation as well as high-contrast and razor-sharp display. The color mode is standard, but it can also be switched to black and white and inverse.

At the Görlitz site, the reader is located near the circulation desk; at the Zittau site, it is on the upper floor, near the group study room.

If required, our staff will be happy to show you how to use the device. Ask for help at the lending desk.
