I've been back in Zittau since October and would like to look back on my year with you. My time in Canada was mostly dedicated to work, but that doesn't mean that I didn't experience anything. In this last post I would like to tell you about my free time, because Canada had a lot to offer me: I was at Lake Chestemer and Bragg Creek Park, on the King Creek Ridge Trail and the Cory Pass Trail. Of course, I couldn't do without a bike. I first toyed with the idea of joining a road bike club, but abandoned it because of the distance. Instead, I joined a club at the university where you could tinker with your bike using the tools provided. I couldn't resist spending quite a lot of money on bike parts there. I also got to know Simone through my flatmate. She is also a very keen cyclist and so I found the perfect tour companion. With her, I rode the trails around Lake Chestem and Bragg Creek Park, which are definitely some of my favorite rides and views. When I wasn't out in nature or working, I liked to be downtown. Often my roommate and I would have coffee or party on 17th Avenue, but my favorite trip was my very first hike with Robert in the Rockies over Cory Pass. The nature was completely different to what I know from Zittau and the surrounding area. The mountains were so unique and from each one you had a new, amazing view. The route took about 6-7 hours with two breaks. What particularly appealed to me - apart from the view - was the demanding nature of the route. At the summit, we had to climb up over loose stones for around 100-150 meters, which initially made me a little uneasy as there was hardly any foothold and it was quite steep. But I took the plunge and didn't regret it for a second. But it wasn't just the nature that I'll never forget, it was the time with other people. I am overjoyed to have met Robert and everyone else. It's on hikes and excursions that you get to know people better and have a lot of time to just chat. That's also what I took away from my time in Canada. You should enjoy and use the time with your fellow human beings more instead of sitting in front of the TV and watching Netflix.

All in all, my internship semester couldn't have been better. I had a really good time and wish that everyone had the opportunity to have an experience like this. I can really only recommend it to everyone, if you have the chance, take it! I hope you enjoyed my trip as much as I did and I'll read from you soon, Sadok.
