Yesterday, Tuesday, June 25, 2014, the third workshop within the framework of our Objective 3 project took place in Chemnitz at the University Library of Chemnitz University of Technology on the topic of "Bibliometrics". The University Library of Chemnitz University of Technology, the University Library of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (Univerzitní knihovna Západočeské univerzity v Plzni), the Scientific Library in Liberec (Krajská vědecká knihovna v Liberci) and the University Library of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences met as part of the Objective 3 project "Saxon-Czech.
The workshop was opened by Ms. Malz, head of the university library at Chemnitz University of Technology. Dr. Jörg Hellwig, a specialist from Elsevier, opened the technical part of the workshop with his presentation on the subject of "Bibliometrics and Libraries". He presented the various common bibliometric measurement methods used in citation analysis and went into great detail on the subject. In his following lecture, he presented the information system SciVal from Elsevier to the workshop participants.
In the second part of the workshop, the topic of bibliometrics was presented by Ms. Firstova University Library of the West Bohemian University of Pilsen (Univerzitní knihovna Západočeské univerzity v Plzni) inthe lecture "Bibliometrics at the ZCU Pilzn"under the practical aspects. The focus was on developments in bibliometric measurement methods, especially in the recent past, and the importance of citation analysis for the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. Ms. Zizienová from the Technical University of Liberec gave a presentation entitled "Bibliometrics at the Liberec University Library" on the methodology of evaluating citation analyses at the Technical University of Liberec. This concluded the technical part of the workshop.
Finally, the framework data for the further course of the Objective 3 project was discussed.
