On November 26 and 27, 2024, the second part of the AI4ActiveAge project's information and experience days took place at the WohnXperium in Chemnitz. The event in Chemnitz also offered innovative insights into technical solutions for safe and self-determined living in old age.
The project team of the AI4ActiveAge research project presented innovative assistance systems that offer older people safety and comfort with great commitment. People in need of care, relatives, people interested in technology and multipliers had the opportunity to obtain comprehensive information about these technologies and experience them in a realistic environment.
In Chemnitz, more than 20 visitors took the opportunity to get to know the systems on show, which were presented in a practical way on the premises of the WohnXperium. The LISA emergency and fall detection system in particular met with great interest.
The LISA emergency and fall detection system was comprehensively demonstrated both beforehand in Neugersdorf and during the second part in Chemnitz. Visitors were able to test functions such as motion and fall sensors, an emergency button and an innovative door opening system live. These vivid demonstrations impressively showed how technical assistance systems can make everyday life easier for older people and increase their safety.
The events provided the project team with valuable feedback. Important needs and wishes of the participants were recorded in intensive discussions and surveys. One key aspect was the desire for increased mobility, accessibility and an age-appropriate living environment.
The positive response was evident in both cities, and there was also great interest in Chemnitz in testing the system within their own four walls. This underlines the growing demand for innovative solutions that are suitable for everyday use.
Special thanks go to the partners in Chemnitz, in particular Susanne Trabandt, Dr. Thomas Löffler and Danny Rüffert from WohnXperium, whose support made the smooth running of the event possible. Their commitment has made a significant contribution to raising public awareness of the importance of technical assistance systems.
