This year's prize goes to Mr. Kilian Erlen for his Master's thesis: "Successful coping with unemployment. Fuzzy modeling for resource-based coping with unemployment in the context of biographical identity modes".
In his thesis, Mr. Erlen dealt with the prerequisites for successfully coping with unemployment. To this end, he conducted 20 interviews with participants in the Saxon Longitudinal Study and analyzed them using a fuzzy model. This comprehensive model makes it possible to convert linguistically fuzzy statements into clear quantitative results. In terms of content, the evaluations show that a high level of success in coping with unemployment is associated with a low level of uncertainty, high individual and social resources and a combination of active problem- and emotion-oriented coping strategies.
