Latin - godfather and companion of the German language

You are cordially invited to the lecture with Dr. paed. Albrecht Balzer on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, 2.30 p.m. in the lecture room of the University Library in Zittau, Hochwaldstraße 12.

Organized by the Society for German Language, Zittau Branch and in cooperation with the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, this lecture is highly recommended if you are interested in, for example

- the Roman Empire and the history of the Latin language,

- the early influence of Latin on the neighboring Germanic languages,

- the age of humanism and the Renaissance words of the university world,

- Latin as the first lingua franca of Europe in modern times,

- the Latin influence on the German language (17th to 21st century) or

- current technical terms from Latin.
