Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is participating in the nationwide DEAL agreement with Wiley. The DEAL project, supported by the Alliance of German Science Organizations, negotiates nationwide licensing agreements with the publishers Wiley, Springer and Elsevier with the aim of sustainably improving access to specialist literature for science and promoting open access publishing as a standard.
By signing the declaration of participation in the nationwide DEAL contract, Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences has entered into this first major contract with the aim of transforming academic publishing towards Open Access. The contract has a term of three years (2019-2021).
The degree offers a number of benefits for all students and researchers at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences:
- You now have access to all journal titles published on the Wiley Online Library platform since 1997. This currently includes around 1,700 journal titles(PDF).
- This increases the number of articles that university users can access in full text many times over.
- The archive rights, including journals that will be published in the next two years, are permanent.
- Non-commercial long-term archiving of the data is also guaranteed.
- Researchers at the university now have the option of publishing open access under a Creative Commons license (CC-BY) in all Wiley journals as standard. There are no publication fees for Open Access publication in subscription-based journals (so-called hybrid journals). In journals that were already available for open access publication, the publication fees incurred are reduced by 20%.
- The contract period is three years and the costs are covered by the University Library's budget. Preparations are being made to switch to a new, exclusively publication-based cost model from 2022.
