The book "Generation, Inequality, Technology - Technological Competence in Older Age" by Bill Pottharst was published under the same title after a successful PhD thesis and is available in the University Library as a local collection and online medium.

In the work, the theoretical approaches of technology generations are combined with those of social inequality so that conclusions can be drawn about technology acceptance, technology competence and technology use in old age. Technology routines in old age are determined in particular by influences in the course of life and the social situation in the current life situation. It seems essential to give older people access to new technologies, but also to give them enough freedom to refrain from using unwanted technologies.

Bill Pottharst is project manager in the TALK project(together with Prof. Dr. Andreas Hoff), research associate in the Saxony5 transfer network, founding member of the GAT Institute, head of the AAL laboratory in Görlitz and lecturer in the master's degree course in the management of social change. After defending his cooperative doctorate between the University of Vechta and Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences in October 2021, the book was subsequently published in the "Vechtaer Beiträge zur Gerontologie" series. He was able to present and discuss his findings in public for the first time at the 22nd Young Scientists' Conference in Brandenburg an der Havel. Among the almost 50 speakers and 30 posters, he presented his research results in the session "Health sector in transition" (Chair: Prof. Dr. med. Eberhard Beck, THB). He received the prize for the best presentation.
