On 14 March 2017, ten participants from Zittau and Varnsdorf took the opportunity to prepare for the "Neisse-Elektro" Electrical Engineering Olympiad.
In a short lecture, Prof. Haim, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science ', explained the essential working techniques for calculating, simplifying and transforming circuits with resistors.
The students then had the opportunity to apply their knowledge in an experiment. For this purpose, an interconnection of resistors was calculated and compared with the practical measurement. If everything was done correctly, the measurement should be comparable with the calculation apart from minor measurement errors.

This year's Olympiad will take place on April 8, 2017. Sixty students from Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany will take part in the competition. The Olympiad is supported by VDE Bezirksverein Dresden e.V., the company ATN Hölzel, Sparkasse Oberlausitz-Niederschlesien and the Cooperative Engineering Education Initiative(KIA sandwich-style) degree course.

The event aims to arouse curiosity and interest in STEM subjects and to support and accompany pupils on their educational path.
