Full steam ahead!

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is setting the course for Historik Mobil.

The HSZG once again took part in the Historik-Mobil Festival this year. For the 11th time, the festival gave visitors a nostalgic experience on the tracks of the Zittau narrow-gauge railroad and in the Zittau Mountains.

The technical facilities of the "Zittau-Süd" narrow-gauge railway station have been reconstructed in recent years under the direction of lecturer Patrick Hornung and allow visitors a vivid insight into the processes of railroad operations and the philosophy of railroad control and safety technology. The best reward for the active participants was the continued lively interest  of the visitors.  The younger  visitors in particular took the opportunity to gain a first-hand insight into an interesting professional field. Finally, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, together with DB Netz AG, offers a dual course of study specializing in railroad control and safety technology.

Since 2005, KIA students on the automation technology course have been trained for DB Netz AG at our university. Close cooperation has been established with Sächsisch-Oberlausitzer Eisenbahngesellschaft mbH - SOEG, as part of the elective modules in railway-specific control and safety technology. This company operates the Zittau narrow-gauge railroad to Oybin and Jonsdorf.
