On 01.12.2018, the TU Dresden, under the leadership of the Saxon universities, concluded a state contract (term 5 years) with Mathworks GmbH for the purchase of Matlab rental licenses (so-called. Total Academic Headcount license (TAH)).
Matlab software is a high-level programming language and interactive environment for numerical calculations, simulation, visualization, programming, data analysis, application development and design and code generation. Matlab is one of the leading mathematical tools in research and industry and enables a wide range of special applications in the fields of engineering, natural sciences and economics.
In addition to the basic Matlab module, the national license also includes Simulink and all available extensions (toolboxes) as a network or single-user license for all members of the university (staff, lecturers and students) in the latest version.
Matlab is available for the Windows, Linux and Mac OS platforms. Use is limited to non-commercial, academic research and teaching.
The license allows the installation and use of all Matlab products on both the university's own computers and the private computers of university members.
The state license also includes free access to practice-oriented online training courses.
Funding is provided centrally by the university. The share of student licenses is financially supported by the SMWK.
Further information on the purchase and scope of the software can be found on our MATLAB information page.
