On September 25, 2018, 24 employees from the Sites and Audits Department of the Maintenance Management division at Lausitz Energie Kraftwerke AG (LEAG) visited the Zittau campus of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
The guests learned about the university’s teaching and research activities, particularly those of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (F EI) and the Institute for Process Engineering, Process Automation, and Measurement Technology (IPM).
Following an introductory lecture on current trends in teaching and research, the group toured various laboratories within the EI faculty, including the undergraduate laboratory, the high-voltage laboratory, and several smaller labs (EMC, control systems, and drive technology).
Beyond the technical exchange on issues related to maintenance management in energy engineering and electrical engineering, interest was expressed in fostering close collaboration between industry and academia in order to continue meeting the challenges in the field of energy supply in the future. The need to train qualified young engineers for this purpose and to make them available to companies as graduates was reaffirmed.
