At the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, a position (40 hours/week) is available at the earliest possible date as a

"Laboratory Engineer Energy and Environmental Process Engineering (m/f/d)

- Keyword: Process Engineering -

to be filled on a permanent basis.

The laboratory engineer is primarily responsible for the mechanical process engineering laboratories, in particular recycling technology, environmental technology and, in addition, energy process engineering and fuel analysis.

The internships to be carried out are a decisive component on the path to professional qualification for graduates of our energy and environmental engineering and green engineering degree programs. Students from other courses at the HSZG and other universities are also supervised in internships in order to support their acquisition of process engineering knowledge and skills.

The broad spectrum of available test rigs ranges from mechanical and experimental shredding to classification, sorting, classification of combustion properties, environmental protection measures in incineration and the complex investigation of a combined heat and power plant with regard to environmental protection measures and resource efficiency.

The transformation of the economic system towards a production method based on renewable energies and recycling will lead to lively innovation activity in the area of the conversion of secondary raw materials and gases, which must be adequately reflected in the training. In close cooperation with those responsible for teaching, this requires constant further development of the practical training technology in the direction of improved studyability on the one hand and practical knowledge and skill acquisition on the other.

The work includes the following tasks in particular:

  • Preparation, setup, execution and follow-up of experiments including conception and implementation of new internship experiments,
  • Supporting teaching activities and preparing excursions,
  • Technical and organizational support of laboratory equipment and inventory,
  • Participation in student internships and student recruitment and
  • Support in the realization of research and development projects.

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • At least a good university degree in the field of process engineering or comparable,
  • Structured, pragmatic and independent way of working,
  • manual and experimental skills,
  • ability to work in a team,
  • good IT, Office and English skills.

The following are also desirable

  • Teaching skills,
  • Relevant professional experience, preferably in the field of mechanical process engineering/particle technology including metrology.
