Art Exhibitions at the HSB

The new semester kicks off with 3 new exhibitions

No fewer than three new exhibitions of very different styles welcome first-semester students and anyone in the region interested in art to the HSB Zittau.

What unites all three exhibitions is the idea of community. Whether it’s the artist duo Richter and Heinze—friends of the university—with their exhibition Together, the students’ works titled WIR!, or the textile exhibition Gesprächsstoff(e), which tells stories about the lives of queer people—working together fosters not only creativity but also a safe haven and a sense of being understood.

The exhibitions are open during the University Library’s hours of operation.

The University Library is a public academic library that is open to the public, not just to university members. Its collection includes an extensive range of academic literature in both electronic and print formats on various academic and socially relevant topics. A library card is issued free of charge upon presentation of an ID card at the circulation desk.

This traveling exhibition invites visitors to explore the lives of the LGBTIQ* communities in Saxony. It is based on the findings of a comprehensive 2022 study on the lives of LGBTIQ* individuals in Saxony, published by the Saxon State Ministry of Justice and for Democracy, Europe, and Equality. Behind all the facts and figures are people with their own personal experiences and stories within our society. They share stories of discrimination and disadvantages in various areas of society, but also of support, acceptance, and recognition.

WE! : Students are exhibiting.

Start October 12, 2026 – 4:00 p.m.
End December 22, 2026 – 3:00 p.m.

Very often, people’s creativity remains hidden. Either they don’t dare to present their work, or they don’t have an easy way to showcase their talents. The resulting works of art then lie dormant in boxes, under the bed, or in a drawer. That’s a tragedy.

With the call to action “Show what you can do,” Jeremy Cope launched a search for creative talent among the students. This small exhibition is the result: 15 works, covering a wide range of styles, that showcase the hidden creativity among us.
