Those studying cultural management in Görlitz experience and discuss culture live in many places. A study day on cultural policy took the Master's students to Dresden on December 5, led by Professors Matthias Theodor Vogt and David Paichadze.
With the Military History Museum and the German Hygiene Museum, two of the leading German museum concepts were on the program. Under the dual impression of the permanent exhibition "War and Peace" in the former and the special exhibition "Faces" in the latter, the students discussed intensively with Gisela Staupe, Deputy Director of the Hygiene Museum, about specific aesthetics, public appeal and not least the special potential of involving artists both with works of art and in hanging the exhibition objects.
The Master's students spoke with Manfred Weiß, Director of Semper Zwei, about the youth policy objectives of the Saxon State Opera before experiencing Viktor Ullmann's "Emperor of Atlantis", a production that was as challenging as it was entertaining, about which they were then able to hold a follow-up discussion with those involved in the production.
The intensive study day ended with lively discussions in Dresden's Neustadt district.
