k 33rd Vibroengineering Conference at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences

The International JVE Vibroengineering Conference took place from September 24 - 26, 2018.

This conference was organized by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in cooperation with JVE- International, Vilnius (LV), a well-known organizer of international conferences on this particular engineering topic. The conference series already has a long tradition and was organized at our university for the first time.

Under the overarching theme of the conference

" Vibration and Acoustics: Challenges in Mechanical Engineering".

The conference focused in particular on topics from specialist areas in which vibrations and their influences play an important role, such as

- Mechanical vibrations and their technical application

- Conveyor technology using vibrations

- Vibrations in robotics

- Fluid-induced structural vibrations

- Requirements for systems in relation to seismic vibrations

- Acoustic systems, reduction of noise emissions

35 participants from 12 countries attended the conference in Zittau. In addition to speakers from Germany, guests from our neighboring country Poland, Romania, South Korea, India, Japan and China were also welcomed.

In addition to the presentations, the conference also offered opportunities for an intensive personal exchange between the participants. Numerous collaborations were initiated in research activities and in connection with student exchanges.

At the presentation of selected laboratories of the faculties EI and M, as well as the Fraunhofer IWU, the participants were able to get an idea of the possibilities in the field of student education and research at our university.

The rector of our university, Prof. Friedrich Albrecht, welcomed the participants on the first day of the conference and introduced our university and its numerous activities. On the second day of the conference, the Mayor of Zittau, Mr. Thomas Zenker, gave a very informative speech on the history, present and future plans of the city of Zittau and acknowledged the importance of our city and its region.

The degree of the conference was a trip with the Zittau narrow-gauge railroad to Oybin on 26.09.18, with a tour of the historical facilities there.
