International presence: HSZG researchers at the ISH 2025 in Japan

From August 24 to 29, 2025, the 24th International Symposium on High Voltage Engineering (ISH 2025) took place in picturesque Karuizawa, Japan. Three researchers from Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG) used this international platform to present their current research results.

The conference covered a wide range of high-voltage technology topics, including HVDC technologies, insulation systems and innovative high-voltage testing techniques.

The poster exhibitions were very popular and provided the ideal setting for intensive technical discussions. Our researchers were able to present their work to an international audience and met with lively interest.

The development and maintenance of the scientific network was particularly valuable. In addition to the exchange with doctoral students from Darmstadt, Munich and Ilmenau, valuable international contacts were also made, such as with the renowned expert for space charge measurement, Prof. Hozoumi. Initial discussions about potential collaborations with Czech colleagues were also held with the aim of comparing research results and initiating joint projects.

Participation in ISH 2025 underlines the international orientation of HSCG research and strengthens its position in the global scientific community of high-voltage technology.

Prof. Stefan Kornhuber on the conference: "The international exchange of scientific staff on the topics of high-voltage technology was also wonderfully successful at this ISH in Japan. There were many opportunities for scientists to exchange ideas during presentations and poster sessions. Many thanks to the Japanese team, especially Prof. Akiko Kumada, for organizing the conference."
