Information on help & support services
Dear students,
In this e-mail we are sending you all the important information/contacts for health problems, financial emergencies or problems with childcare.
In addition, another piece of information:
We used the term "free attempt" incorrectly in previous emails. We intended it to describe examinations that are initially not graded and can be accepted or rejected by the student after the grades have been announced. As the term "free attempt" is already used in the examination regulations to describe a different form of examination assessment, we used the term incorrectly. We apologize for this and would like to clarify this again.
Health support services:
We encourage you to use these psychosocial support services in case of problems and needs:
Telephone counseling: 0800/111 0 111 or 0800/111 0 222
App: "KrisenKompass" from the telephone counseling service
Number against grief (child and youth helpline): 116 111
German depression help line: 0 800 33 44 5 33
Psychosocial counseling of the Studentenwerk Dresden: 0351 4697-920 (8:00 - 15:30) or psb@studentenwerk-dresden.de
Help hotline for domestic violence: 0800 11 60 16
We are also trying to extend the time available for psychosocial counseling at Studentenwerk Dresden and are currently in discussion. From 01.09.20, a psychosocial counseling office will be on site again, until then please use the telephone counseling.
The exit restrictions reduce social life for many to an unbearable minimum.
We therefore also recommend that everyone takes care of their physical health as well as their mental health. Exercise in the fresh air and sport indoors can help you stay productive and balanced.
We recommend the online sports courses offered by all German colleges and universities, which can be found at www.adh.de/service/hsp-onlinek....
Financial hardship:
We ask affected students to apply for BAföG and to contact the Studentenwerk Dresden. In addition, affected students are asked to inform themselves about the possibilities of BAföG:
https://www.bafög.de/index.php... parents' income decreases (e.g. short-time work):
https://www.bafög.de/elternein... If financial support is required between application and notification, you can also contact the Studentenwerk directly, as there are also hardship regulations. The financial reserves for this are currently being raised, but will hopefully soon be replenished by donations.
https://www.studentenwerk-dres... For female students, the Hildegardis Association also offers help. As part of the emergency aid, female students who have financial bottlenecks due to corona can apply for a loan of up to EUR 3000 from the Hildegardis Association. All other selection criteria of the Hildegardis-Verein continue to apply. Funding is available for women studying, in further education and training - in all disciplines and age groups, especially female students with children.
https://www.hildegardis-verein... Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) will be issuing interest-free loans of up to EUR 650 per month for students in financial need from May 8, 2020. This is independent of the parents' income. The requirements for a possible loan have been lowered and thus more people have the opportunity to take advantage of it.
Assistance for students with children:
Since 01.05.20, the Saxon state government has decided that students with children are entitled to emergency childcare during exams as well as during classes / courses.
Otherwise you can also place an ad on https://www.quarantaenehelden.... or look for help in local Facebook corona groups or ask friends and relatives.
The Hildegardis Association also offers help for female students with children. As part of the emergency aid program, female students who have financial difficulties due to the coronavirus can apply for a loan of up to EUR 3,000 from the Hildegardis Association. Information on assistance & support services
Dear students,
In this mail we send you again all important data/contact in case of health problems, financial distress or problems with child care.
Furthermore we will send you further information:
In previous e-mails we used the term "Freiversuch" incorrectly. We wanted to describe exams that are not rated at first and can be accepted or rejected by the student after the grades have been announced. Since the term "Freiversuch" is already used in the examination regulations to describe another form of examination evaluation, we have therefore used the term incorrectly. We apologize for this and would like to clarify this once again.
