Delicate textures, distinctive craftsmanship, technical designs, or ornamental embellishments: It is often the small elements that make buildings and structures unique. The “En Détail 2” photo contest invites participants to discover such details and capture them from an unusual close-up perspective.

The Faculty of Business Administration and Engineering Management at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is organizing the contest in collaboration with the Regional Development Association of the Zittau Mountains Nature Park (Verein Regionalentwicklung Naturpark Zittauer Gebirge e. V.). We are looking for photographs of details from the built environment in Upper Lusatia, the border triangle of Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic, as well as in the LEADER region of the Zittauer Gebirge Nature Park.

We welcome both classic close-ups and creative macro photographs. The images can showcase elegant, functional, enigmatic, or curious solutions and tell stories about materials, forms, precision craftsmanship, transience, or human creativity.

Photography enthusiasts of all ages are welcome to participate, including both amateur photographers and professionals. High school students in 10th grade and above are also expressly invited to participate. Each person may submit one photograph that they have taken themselves. AI-generated images are excluded from the competition.

A jury will evaluate the submitted entries based on their relevance to the theme, conceptual approach, photographic composition, and technical quality. Four prizes are available: 200 euros for first place, 150 euros for second place, and 100 euros for third place. In addition, there is a Young Talent Award of 100 euros for participants who have not yet turned 19 at the time of submission.

From October 26, 2026, through January 29, 2027, the competition entries will be on display in Building Z II of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences at Schliebenstraße 21. A second exhibition will follow from February 9 to March 27, 2027, at the Christian Weise Library in the Salzhaus Zittau. The awards ceremony is scheduled for November or December 2026. The exact date will be announced at a later time.
