to be filled for a limited period of 3 years.

The aim of the " ProMaterialLausitz" project is to lead the metal and plastics processing industry, which is one of the priority potentials for structural change in Lausitz and generally one of the relevant development potentials in Saxony, to innovations for a competitive future and economic resilience in the region through knowledge and technology transfer.
In addition to the technological advancement of AM processes, this project therefore focuses in particular on sustainability and transfer management.

The position holder will be responsible for the following tasks

  • Advice on the topic of sustainability in relation to the specific "prototypes" to be planned in the project,
  • Life cycle assessment of prototyping approaches, processes, process chains and product innovations accompanying the testing, transfer and implementation of innovations in additive manufacturing and metal 3D printing in regional companies together with the consortium partners,
  • Evaluation of the relative and absolute environmental relief potentials through recycling and increasing the material and resource efficiency of relevant input materials as well as energy efficiency of additive manufacturing/metal 3D printing and through waste reduction compared to reference production systems,
  • Evaluation of the system contribution of 3D printing processes for circularity in metalworking companies and other industries and the circular economy with metallic raw materials in Lausitz,
  • Determination and collection of monitoring parameters for the sustainability assessment of contributions of additive manufacturing to value creation and improvement of ecological, economic and social sustainability in metalworking companies in the structural change region of Upper Lusatia.

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • Scientific university degree in engineering and/or environmental sciences with reference to technical and methodological fields of competence in manufacturing technology, mechanical engineering, technology assessment or sustainability assessment, life cycle assessment, life cycle design and engineering, additive manufacturing, energy technology and/or production-integrated environmental protection,
  • Knowledge of life cycle assessment methods and software tools, energy and material flow analysis and relevant aspects of multi-criteria sustainability assessment

In addition, the following are desirable

  • Initial research experience in the field of innovative processes in additive manufacturing, in the field of technology assessment and life cycle assessment with reference to the circular economy and/or innovation management in regions undergoing structural change,
  • Good written and spoken English language skills,
  • knowledge of project management.

We expect from you

  • strong organizational and communication skills,
  • the ability to work in an interdisciplinary and independent, scientifically sound manner,
