The position holder will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Forward-looking sustainability assessment of circular bioeconomy value chains,
• Price and raw material monitoring in the field of secondary raw materials in the circular economy as well as energy and material flow analysis from biomass cultivation to industrial production in the bio-based economy,
• Development of a stakeholder-oriented approach for the mapping and monitoring of conflicting goals, sustainability dilemmas, resource competition and supply chain risks in the use of renewable raw materials in the circular bioeconomy with a focus on future supply chains of companies in Lausitz,
• Assessment of land use impacts of the provision of biomass feedstocks and bio-based raw materials,
• Comparative assessment of the sustainability of international and national supply chains for sustainably provided biogenic resources
• Life cycle assessment and socio-economic evaluation of global and regional value chains in the production of novel bio-based, recyclable product innovations and circular service innovations of the bioeconomy,
• Documentation and presentation of research results.

The following knowledge and skills are required

• University degree in natural sciences, engineering or management sciences with reference to technical-methodological fields of competence in the field of environmental energy and sustainability management systems, in the field of moderation of social change, in the field of business ethics, in change management and/or in the management of natural resources such as water resources and land use management or similar.
• Knowledge of life cycle assessment methods and software tools, energy and material flow analysis and relevant aspects of sustainability reporting and sustainability certification

In addition, the following are desirable

• Research experience in the field of inter- and transdisciplinary sustainability research related to circular economy, social sustainability, bioeconomy, land use, water-food-energy nexus, sustainability transformation and/or decoupling the economy from negative environmental impacts,
• Good written and spoken English language skills,
• knowledge of project management.
