Embedded Edge AI solutions in combination with AR/VR or XR technologies, together with energy-efficient hardware modules, offer a wide range of possibilities for the development of intelligent systems for human-technology interaction or cyber-physical systems as well as in the field of wearables.

The aim of the project is to research AI and AR/VR or XR methodologies, to identify innovative application possibilities and to test them in practical research samples in the areas of Edge AI and AR/VR or XR. The technical/scientific content consists of the research and development of necessary AI/XR methods and algorithms in order to realize identified use cases and application requirements of the project partners with the Edge-AI SoCs and microdisplays to be developed. The planned energy efficiency of the developed components should make a significant contribution to the technical realization of the research samples in the form of wearables or AR/VR or XR systems, e.g. in process and manufacturing technology.

The job holder (m/f/d) will support the project team in particular with the following tasks

• Investigations into existing AR/VR or XR technologies,
• Design of functional models and example applications (AR/VR or XR devices, intelligent systems),
• Validation and verification of the AR/VR or XR models and methods developed with regard to the requirements developed,
• Development of the requirements in cooperation with the project partners (Head Mounted Display/CAVE),
• Coordination of the cooperation with the project partners, participation in the scientific exchange and discourse with industry and research partners,
• Preparation and presentation of project reports, scientific contributions for publications and conferences.

The following knowledge and skills are required

• Very good university degree in the fields of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics or Technical Physics (at least B.Sc., Dipl.-Ing (FH) or comparable degree),
• in-depth specialist knowledge and relevant experience in the fields of applied artificial intelligence and virtual human-machine systems,
• Experience in software development in C/C++ or other high-level languages and common software development tools,
• Experience in project management,
• Experience in the use of visualization tools and methods as well as MS Office/Latex,
• German and/or English spoken and written (B2), project language German,
• confident appearance and communication skills.

The following are also desirable
