Under the motto "A day for you", Stadtwerke Zittau (SWZ) organized an interesting family day for young and old on 28 May.

Under the motto "A day for you", Stadtwerke Zittau (SWZ) organized an interesting family day for young and old on 28 May on the company premises on Friedensstraße in Zittau. All this took place in a new guise with lots of surprises, interesting facts and insights into the areas of electricity, gas, water and district heating. The Faculty of Business Administration and Engineering Management at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences also took part.

In addition to the Zittau Power Plant Laboratory (ZKWL), the Energy Technology Cabinet (ETK) also opened its doors, providing Faculty W with a spacious exhibition area. In addition to a comprehensive range of information about the Business Administration, International Management, Real Estate Management and Industrial Engineering degree programs, current content from the areas of teaching and research was presented.

Research associate Dipl.-Wirtsch.-Ing. (FH) Jens Maiwald was responsible for the content presentation. He presented the current results of the research project "Regional Energy Markets", which is currently being carried out at the HSZG under the direction of Prof. Dr. Tino Schütte. The aim of the project is to investigate the effects of regional energy markets on decentralized energy supply.

Using a prepared simulation calculation with corresponding visualization of the results, the many interested listeners were given an impression of the regional energy supply system and the hurdles that need to be overcome on the way to a successful energy transition. There was lively questioning, discussion and advice on the influence of renewable energies on the supply system, which alternative technologies are available and how consumers must be integrated into the overall energy supply system in the future.

All in all, it was a successful day characterized by interest in a relaxed atmosphere under the roof of the SWZ. Not only the visitors were able to gather new impressions.

The Faculty W would like to thank the ETK for providing the presentation area. Special thanks are due to Mr. Friedrich Wodarczack for the uncomplicated cooperation.
