On September 13, 2024, an important event with the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) and the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) took place at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. The GAT Institute at the Görlitz campus hosted this special meeting, which marked an important milestone in the collaboration to promote healthy and efficient digital working conditions.
The work of the GAT Institute's Digital Stress working group, which is researching innovative AI solutions for practical applications in Görlitz, was particularly highlighted. The GAT Institute also plays a central role in the further development of the BASA 4 process, which aims to promote mental health in the workplace. Such projects not only make digital work healthier, but also more efficient. Prof. Hoff is also conducting valuable research into digital assistance systems that are designed to make both care and life in old age easier.
Thanks to Prof. Schmidt's long-standing collaboration with EU-OSHA and BAuA, the two organizations have come to Görlitz for their conference. Since 2016, he has been responsible for and developing the BASA procedure (psychological assessment of working conditions - screening for job holders) together with an employee of the BAuA and ACOEMRA GmbH. Prof. Schmidt already cooperated with the EU-OSHA and the Polytechnic University in Odessa in Ukraine, which has now made the direct exchange in Görlitz possible. "Sometimes the prophet comes to the mountain," commented Prof. Schmidt with a wink, as he usually travels to the institutions and not the other way around.
The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is very pleased about the close cooperation with the EU-OSHA and the BAuA, which makes it possible to further advance practice-oriented research and developments in the fields of occupational health and safety.
