Seal of approval - Ungut
The leitmotif of ZuVi2018
Everywhere in society, we encounter standards by which we should measure ourselves and others. Scales by which we assess actions, labels that we award. We grade, compare and evaluate everywhere. But who actually sets these values? Who determines what is good and what is bad for people, cities and society? Görlitz is a place that is characterized by aspirations for conversion and upheaval. Does the desire for change mean that the current state is classified as unsatisfactory, as bad? Does this make the area an ungood, something to get rid of? How does bad become good? And what meaning do these terms have for the individual and society? These are the questions we want to address in the 2018 exhibition.
One of the aims of ZUKUNFTSVISIONEN is to revitalize an unused building through art and culture during the exhibition period and thus draw attention to the vacancy problem in Görlitz. The project team selects a different vacant building as the exhibition venue each year.
In 2018, the festival will take place in the former freight yard in Görlitz. The freight yard on Bahnhofstraße will open its doors in spring for two subcultural highlights: the ZUKUNFTSVISIONEN festival and the Weltstadt - Erinnerung und Zukunft gebaut im Modell exhibition.
