Semester fee increase, but why?

Dear students, As you may have already noticed, the semester fee is increasing significantly. From the winter semester onwards, an amount of € 332.13 will be due. This is made up of three areas: Student Services, semester ticket and university.

As we stand for transparency, we will tell you where the increase comes from and why:

  • The Deutschlandticket has been raised to €58 per month.
    Unfortunately, this means that we also have to pay €32.40 more per semester.
  • Due to cuts in subsidies by the Free State of Saxony, the Studentenwerk has to increase the fee by €15. This means that the continuation of all offers is secured for the time being - an increase in the canteen prices is therefore off the table for the time being.
    To make sure it stays that way, we invite you to the demonstration on 25.06.2025 from 5 pm in Dresden.

    We did not agree to this increase without a fight! The last few months have been filled with meetings and discussions - hand in hand with our student union, other StuRä from Saxony and student representatives from all over Germany. Together, we were able to avert the originally planned €47.
  • The Deutsches Studierendenwerk (DSW), which includes our Studentenwerk Dresden, also wants a small contribution: €0.23 per semester goes there.
  • We as StuRa and the university are not asking you to pay any more than before. Nothing will change for us.

In total, you will pay €47.63 more - and now you know why.
