Zittau, 12.01.2017: Once again this year, the University Information Day was used by interested secondary school pupils to get first-hand information.
A highlight this year was once again the STEM Trail, which was jointly organized by the Faculties of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering and Natural and Environmental Sciences.
Instead of many words, here are a few pictures of the trail stations of the electrical engineering department.
The modern laboratories of the Department of Electrical Engineering are open
At the "Soldering" station, students were given hands-on instruction in building electronic circuits
The "Thermography" station also aroused the students' interest: the key question here was: what are the pitfalls of non-contact temperature measurement?
At the motor construction kit station, it quickly became clear what makes an electric motor turn. Those with patience and a little skill were able to make their first self-built electric machine.
Those who persevered to the end were able to be there when the high-voltage laboratory really cracked - undoubtedly an exciting experience to see the effect of several 100,000 V up close!
