"Event risk - Statistical methods and concepts for risk quantification"

Prof. Dr. Steffi Höse (HSZG) and Prof. Dr. Stefan Huschens (TU Dresden) publish with Springer Nature.

Prof. Dr. Steffi Höse (HSZG) and Prof. Dr. Stefan Huschens (TU Dresden) publish with Springer Nature:

The more than 300-page monograph focuses on the quantitative modeling and statistical measurement of event risks.

Chapter by chapter, the most important risk measures are introduced verbally, formally defined, calculated in the context of short examples for various stochastic models and then statistically estimated in the context of various data situations. The estimated values are supplemented with accuracy information. Statistical test procedures that can be used for risk monitoring complete the respective chapter.

The statistical procedure is always illustrated by means of application examples. Software references in the form of procedures and functions for Excel, GAUSS, Mathematica and R supplement the respective explanations. At the end of each chapter there is a short summary that succinctly summarizes the key findings and pitfalls, as well as a division on the methodological background and derivations.

The book has an interdisciplinary focus and is good for self-study, further education or as a basis for teaching modules on risk modeling, risk measurement, risk quantification, risk measures or risk management in business, engineering and science courses. The presentation of the content at different levels of difficulty (data-oriented procedures, methodological background and derivations, technical appendices) allows the book to be used at different levels of study and also makes it interesting for researchers.
