The Objective 3 project "Saxon-Czech Library Network - Information without Borders" ended on November 30, 2014 after a one-year term. The main activities included numerous events, such as workshops, library days and taster visits, which took place in the individual partner libraries. On November 11, 2014, the University Library of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (WUP) invited colleagues from the partner libraries as well as specialist speakers and guests to the project's final workshop. The agenda included specialist presentations as well as an evaluation and outlook of the project by the project partners.

A welcome address from the university management was followed by two presentations on linguistic topics. In the first, Prof. Dr. habil. Elke Mehnert and Ms. Bc. Irena Chavíková, both from the WUP's Faculty of Education, highlighted Saxon-Czech cooperation as an important opportunity for students of German studies and praised the work of the project "Saxon-Czech Library Network - Information without Borders". In the second lecture, Mgr. Hana Svobodová, Head of the German Language Department of the Institute for Language Preparation at the WUP, presented the activities of her department, in which the self-published subject-related German books were of particular interest from the library's point of view.

Ms. Zdeňka Firstová (University Library of the WBU Pilsen) introduced the second subject-related topic area with her presentation "Open Access - open access to scientific results". In the subsequent specialist lecture, Mr. Gerrit Kühle, M.A. (University Library of Chemnitz University of Technology) spoke about the political dimensions and legal aspects of Open Access.

Finally, the Ziel3 project was reviewed by the representatives of the project partners (PhDr. Miloslava Faitová, Director of the University Library of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, Mgr. Blanka Konvalinková, Director of the Scientific District Library Liberec and Dipl.-Bibl. (FH) Ralf Schwarzbach, Head Librarian of the University Library of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences), who each presented their project evaluations.

The project manager Mr. Adam Slabý, M.A. from the University Library of Chemnitz University of Technology then commented on the overall balance of the project from the lead partner's perspective and reported on the prospects for the 2014-2020 funding period. All four project partners confirmed their interest in further cooperation. The University Library of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences expressed its willingness to participate in a possible follow-up project.

At the end of the event, the participants were able to gain interesting impressions during a tour of the recently expanded Bory branch library in Pilsen led by Dr. Faitová.
