On April 28, 2015, the computer science department hosted the "RoboCup" for the second time. Teams of three students each competed, including two teams from Zgorzelec and one team from Boleslewiec. The teams from Görlitz were made up of pupils from Curie and Annen grammar schools.
During the competition, the teams had to complete two parts: The first part was a written test on the Java programming language.
In the second part, robots had to be programmed and the corresponding Java program optimized and parameterized in order to complete a given course in the shortest possible time. Various sensors are available to the Lego NXT vehicles for this purpose, such as light sensors. The teams worked hard to ensure that their vehicle achieved the fastest lap time.

In the end, a team from Zgorzelec achieved the fastest lap time. However, a team from Görlitz then won the overall ranking and thus the second Robocup competition due to their lead from the theoretical part of the competition. Congratulations at this point!
The winners:

Many thanks to the company Bombardier for donating the prizes worth a total of EUR 500 for the participants and also to the accompanying teachers from our neighboring country who helped prepare and support the event, as well as Sebastian Otto and Maciej Krzan for their support in running the competition. A continuation of the Robocup is already planned for next year.
