Research Associate in Cell Biology (m/f/d)

to be filled on a fixed-term basis until December 31, 2028.

The program to promote the recruitment and development of faculty members at universities of applied sciences supports these institutions in introducing and expanding structural measures to recruit academic excellence, enhances their visibility and attractiveness as employers, and increases equal opportunity, diversity, and work-life balance.

In the Department of Biotechnology at the Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences, the project is seeking an individual interested in an academic career whose qualifications do not fully meet the requirements for appointment under Section 59(1), items 1–4, of the Saxon Higher Education Act. The scope of responsibilities can be individually tailored to emphasize areas such as research or teaching experience. In particular, the position involves the following duties:

  • Conducting classes / courses (lectures, seminars, internships, field trips) in the field of cell biology or related areas (biotechnology) totaling 4 SWS per semester in consultation with the faculty,
  • Assisting with the organization of teaching and laboratory activities in the Department of Biotechnology,
  • Assisting with the preparation, application, and implementation of (externally funded) research projects,
  • Evaluating, summarizing, and documenting research results,
  • Publication of, or contribution to the publication of, research results,
  • Presenting research results at (international) conferences.

The following knowledge and skills are required:

  • A completed scientific university degree in the field of biotechnology,
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of cell biology/biotechnology,
  • Practical foreign language skills (especially English).

In addition, the following are desirable:

  • three years of professional experience in applying scientific knowledge and methods outside of a university (or a willingness to gain this experience concurrently during the project period),
  • a completed Ph.D. or a willingness to pursue a Ph.D. during the project period,
  • teaching skills and experience in university instruction.

Further information

Salary is based on pay grade 13 of the TV-L collective bargaining agreement, provided the candidate meets the personal qualifications. The primary place of employment is Zittau.
