The program to promote the recruitment and development of faculty at universities of applied sciences supports these institutions in introducing and expanding structural measures to recruit academic excellence, enhances their visibility and appeal as employers, and increases equal opportunity, diversity, and work-life balance.

In the Department of Ecology at the Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences, the project is seeking an individual interested in an academic career whose qualifications do not fully meet the requirements for appointment under Section 59(1), items 1–4, of the Saxon Higher Education Act. The scope of responsibilities can be tailored individually to focus, for example, on research activities or teaching experience. In particular, the position involves the following duties:

• Conducting classes / courses (lectures, seminars, internships, field trips) in the fields of (geo)ecology, vegetation science, and botany totaling 4 SWS per semester in consultation with the faculty,
• Assisting with the organization of teaching and laboratory work in the Department of Ecology and Botany,
• Conducting research papers in the field of ecology and experimental botany, with the opportunity to pursue a Ph.D. in consultation with the faculty,
• Evaluation, synthesis, and documentation of research results,
• Publication of, or contribution to the publication of, research results,
• Presentation of project results at (international) conferences.

The following knowledge and skills are required:

• A completed academic degree in the field of ecology,
• Knowledge and experience in the fields of vegetation science, botany, or landscape planning,
• practical foreign language skills (especially English).

In addition, the following are desirable:

• Willingness to pursue a Ph.D. during the project period,
• three years of professional experience in applying scientific knowledge and methods outside of a university (or a willingness to gain this experience concurrently during the project period),
• teaching skills and experience in university-level instruction.
