The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, is seeking to fill a part-time position (20 hours per week) as soon as possible as part of the RUBIN Enviroplast project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), for the position of
Research Assistant (m/f/d) for Process Monitoring

for a fixed term ending on May 31, 2027.
The position holder will be responsible for the following tasks in particular:
- Making a scientific contribution to a clean, decarbonized future based on sustainable technical plastic components,
- Independent setup of experimental systems for metrological process monitoring of the FGF process, selection and commissioning of sensor systems and control/regulation technology,
- Independently conducting experiments for process optimization, scientifically evaluating and documenting the results, and deriving optimization measures,
- Creating digital twins to optimize the printing process,
- Close collaboration with industry and academic partners,
- Attendance at international events related to the field (trade shows, conferences, etc.) for scientific exchange and to publish research results.
The following knowledge and skills are required
- a completed scientific college degree in Mechanical Engineering, process engineering, materials science, or a comparable field,
- Practical experience in additive manufacturing,
- practical experience in sensory process monitoring of additive manufacturing processes,
- fluency in spoken and written English.
In addition, the following are desirable:
- experience in the development and design of 3D-printable components,
- experience in managing and securing research projects,
- experience in drafting scientific articles.

Salary is based on pay grade 13 of the TV-L collective bargaining agreement, provided the candidate meets the personal qualifications. The primary place of employment is Zittau.
