Computer Science Laboratory Engineer (m/f/d)

for a fixed term lasting the duration of the substitution, but no later than December 31, 2025.

The position primarily involves the following duties:

  • Installation, configuration, and operation of hardware for the faculty’s PC labs at the Zittau campus,
  • Identifying software and hardware needs and requirements in consultation with faculty members,
  • Provision and maintenance of software within the PC pools for teaching,
  • Providing advice, support, and training to users, as well as preparing necessary documentation and information related to the job responsibilities,
  • Ensuring and monitoring compliance with occupational safety regulations in the PC labs, including instructing users,
  • Maintaining the faculty’s website using the Typo3 content management system in close coordination with the Public Relations Department,
  • Supporting the faculty with building management,
  • Assisting with representative duties at both locations.

The following knowledge and skills are required:

  • a completed college degree in computer science or a related field,
  • Professional experience in
    • hardware procurement and maintenance,
    • client administration,
    • software distribution and patch management,
    • network administration,
    • website maintenance using a content management system,
    • Creation of IT documentation,
  • Knowledge of high-level programming languages such as C/C++, Python, and Java,
  • practical English skills.

In addition, the following are desirable:

  • knowledge of occupational safety,
  • and teaching skills for university-level courses.

Salary is based on pay grade 10 of the TV-L collective bargaining agreement, provided the candidate meets the personal qualifications. The primary place of work is Zittau.
