to be filled for a limited period until 30.04.2026.

AIMS5.0 (Artificial Intelligence for Manufacturing Leading to Sustainability and Industry 5.0) is a European high-tech industry research project that aims to strengthen Europe's digital sovereignty in comprehensively sustainable production. The project and its consortium of 53 partners from academia and industry across Europe aim to increase productivity through the use of AI-enabled hardware and software components and systems across the entire industrial value chain.
New technologies from the Internet of Things, based on Semantic Web ontologies, ML (Machine Learning) and AI (Artificial Intelligence) are intended to facilitate the transition from Industry 4.0 to Industry 5.0 for European manufacturers and create human-centered working conditions and climate-friendly production.

As part of the AIMS5.0 sub-project, the Chair of Business Administration, in particular Production Management and Logistics at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is investigating optimization approaches for human-AI interfaces in European semiconductor production.

The project objectives are:

  1. Researching decision-making situations in production management and determining the requirements for human decision-makers and AI,
  2. Improvement of human-AI collaboration in the corresponding decision-making situations through interpretable AI and visualizations,
  3. Evaluation of human-AI collaboration based on the quality of the decisions made in terms of social, economic and ecological sustainability.

The job includes the following tasks in particular

  • Application and evaluation of machine learning algorithms and methods for decision-making processes in production management,
  • Conception, design and evaluation of data and information visualizations,
  • Experimental research design and implementation of experiments,
  • Evaluation of qualitative survey methods,
  • Derivation of practical recommendations for the transferability of the results,
  • Scientific dissemination of project results at (international) conferences and in specialist journals,
  • Reporting,
  • If necessary, representation of the project management.

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • Scientific university degree, preferably in the field of industrial engineering, industrial informatics, industrial science or a related field,
  • Knowledge in the application of quantitative and qualitative research methods,
  • Knowledge of databases and programming skills,
  • Knowledge of project management,
  • Good written and spoken English.

In addition, the following are desirable

  • Knowledge of the semiconductor industry/manufacturing,
  • Knowledge of data visualization,
  • Interest in psychological and sociological issues at the interface to production and management.
