Who is coming? Who is leaving? Who stays?

At a press conference held at the district administration office on March 24, 2017, the TRAWOS Institute presented findings on young people’s decisions to stay in the region

The TRAWOS Institute at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, under the direction of Prof. Dr. Raj Kollmorgen and Prof. Ulrike Gräßel, examined the migration and retention patterns of young adults between the ages of 16 and 40. The collaborative project with the Görlitz district aimed to assess the likelihood of young people—particularly qualified women—staying in the region and to develop recommendations for action and measures to retain good-quality women in the region. In addition to high school students, students at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG) were also surveyed in a representative online poll.

The results were presented to the public and the press on March 24, 2017, together with Heike Zettwitz, department head of the district, and Ines Fabisch, the district’s equal opportunities officer.
