At Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is seeking to fill a W2 professorship in
“Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Power Machines” (m/f/d) — Reference Number : ME-042 —
on a full-time basis.
The position involves representing the above-mentioned field of specialization in teaching and research through lectures, seminars, exercises, internships, and projects, as well as in continuing education, with a particular focus on the following areas:
- Fluid mechanics,
- Fluid-Power Machinery,
- numerical flow simulation,
- wind and hydroelectric power generation.
The teaching units must be guaranteed university-wide. Classes / courses may also be taught in English as needed. Furthermore, the ability and willingness to participate in interdisciplinary, practice-oriented, and internship-based teaching units are required. If necessary, the candidate must be willing to teach classes / courses related to the field of appointment.
Appointment Requirements
- a completed academic degree in a field related to the area of appointment,
- demonstrated pedagogical aptitude in teaching or training,
- a special aptitude for scholarly work, generally demonstrated by the quality of a doctoral dissertation, as well as
- outstanding achievements in the application or development of scholarly knowledge and methods during a period of professional practice—typically five years—of which at least three years must have been spent outside the higher education sector.
Reference is made to the Act on Academic Freedom at Universities in the Free State of Saxony (Saxon Academic Freedom Act—SächsHSFG) of January 15, 2013 (SächsGVBl. 2013 No. 1, p. 3).

- a sustained commitment to independently carrying out research and development tasks in your field of appointment, in addition to your teaching obligations,
- active participation in the internationalization of the university and the further development of the department,
- the assumption of responsibilities in academic self-governance, as well as
- active participation in knowledge and technology transfer projects.
