W2-Professorship (m/f/d) "Social Case Management and Integrative Methodology in Social Work - Reference number: SW-119 -

The position involves serving as a substitute for the above-mentioned professorship in teaching and research, with a particular focus on the following areas:

• Individual social case work as a method of social work
• Integrative methodology and case work in social work
• Ethics and social management in the context of methodological practice in social work

The successful candidate (m/f/d) is expected to teach not only classes / courses related to the aforementioned areas of focus but also introductory courses in the discipline and profession of social work, such as intervention methods, self-reflection, and supervision of field placements. Practical experience in social work in the areas of individual social case management and methodological case work is required. Knowledge in the field of child protection, which can be incorporated into the classes / courses, is desirable.

Teaching responsibilities are to be fulfilled through lectures, seminars, workshops, internships, and projects, as well as through continuing education programs. If necessary, the course offerings must be ensured university-wide. The ability and willingness to teach in English are required. Classes / courses related to the area of appointment must be taught as needed.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, the incumbent must independently carry out research and development tasks in the field of appointment. A corresponding level of commitment is required, as is a willingness to engage in social and regional networking. The appointee must actively contribute to the internationalization of the university and the further development of the academic discipline. Responsibilities in academic self-governance must be assumed. In addition, involvement in projects related to knowledge and technology transfer is expected.

Appointment Requirements

Requirements for appointment include a completed academic degree from a university, proven pedagogical aptitude in teaching or training, a special aptitude for scholarly work—which is generally demonstrated by the quality of a doctoral dissertation— as well as outstanding achievements in the application or development of scientific findings and methods during a period of professional practice—typically five years—of which at least three years must have been spent outside the higher education sector.

The Saxon Higher Education Act of May 31, 2023 (SächsGVBl. p. 329), as last amended by Article 2 of the Act of January 31, 2024 (SächsGVBl. p. 83).

The following knowledge and skills are required

• A completed university degree in social work, sociology, or educational science with a focus on social work/social pedagogy or a related discipline is expected.
• Proof of special aptitude for in-depth, independent scholarly work is generally to be demonstrated through an outstanding doctoral degree in a relevant field.
• The candidate’s professional career must demonstrate a clear connection to the content and responsibilities of the professorship.
• The future incumbent will focus on fostering our students’ professional identity, imparting relevant subject-matter knowledge, and fostering an understanding of the specific phenomena of the discipline (pedagogical and didactic aptitude), and must demonstrate relevant teaching experience.
• Experience in applied research and knowledge transfer.
• Experience in the design, establishment, and accreditation of degree programs, as well as in securing external funding, is advantageous.
