W2-Professorship (m/f/d) "Human-Computer Interaction" - Reference number: EI-069 -

The position involves serving as a substitute for the above-mentioned professorship in teaching and research, with a particular focus on the following areas:

• Human-computer interaction
  • Programming the human-machine interface using various end devices and systems with multimodal interaction,
  • Software frameworks for implementing the human-machine interface,
  • Software solutions for specialized input/output devices, new interfaces, augmented reality/virtual reality, and gesture recognition,
  • Physiological and psychological foundations of human information processing with regard to interaction with technical systems,
  • Interaction with speech recognition, audiovisual design, haptic interaction options, as well as interaction prototypes and their evaluation,
  • Interaction design, UX design, design guidelines such as Material Design for graphical design,
  • Continuous monitoring and improvement of interaction,
  • Methods and applications in the field of the Internet of Things and their user-centered design.
• Application Context
  • Software solutions in implants, wearables, assistive devices, and VR systems in nursing care and rehabilitation,
  • Accessible interaction, user-centered design, implementation, and evaluation,
  • Design of and interaction with IT systems, particularly in the context of medicine and nursing,
  • Consideration of the limitations of audiovisual and haptic information processing for specific user groups in software development,
  • Software development and user-friendly application of domain-specific robotic systems, such as care robotics,
  • Establishing a connection between the aforementioned content and the field of computer science.

The professorship is intended to meet future demands in the field of computer science, particularly in human-computer interaction as it relates to software systems and application-oriented approaches.

Teaching responsibilities include lectures, seminars, exercises, lab sessions, and projects, as well as continuing education courses, to be conducted in both German and English. Where appropriate, the incumbent must also teach classes / courses related to the field of appointment, particularly in the applications of computer science, e.g., in Health Management, social services, or engineering.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, the appointee is expected to demonstrate a continuous commitment to independently conducting research and development in the field of appointment and the aforementioned key areas. The appointee must actively contribute to the internationalization of the university and the further development of the department. Responsibilities related to academic

self-governance. Furthermore, active participation in projects in the field of knowledge and technology transfer is expected.

Appointment Requirements

Requirements for appointment include a completed academic degree, demonstrated pedagogical aptitude in teaching or training, a special aptitude for scholarly work—typically evidenced by a doctoral degree or equivalent scholarly achievements— as well as outstanding achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods gained through, as a rule, five years of professional experience, at least three of which must have been gained outside the higher education sector.

• where applicable, the assumption of class / course responsibilities in fields related to the area of appointment, particularly in the applied aspects of computer science—e.g., in Health Management, social work, or engineering,
• a continuous commitment to independently conducting research and development in your field of appointment in addition to your teaching obligations,
• active participation in the internationalization of the university and the further development of the department,
• the assumption of responsibilities in academic self-governance, as well as
• active participation in knowledge and technology transfer projects.
