W2-Professorship (m/f/d) "Machine Dynamics" - Reference number: MM-036 -

The position involves representing the above-mentioned field of specialization in teaching and research through lectures, seminars, exercises, internships, and projects, as well as in continuing education. The candidate should develop a specialized focus in one of the following areas:

• Vibration Engineering
• Multibody Simulation
• Structural dynamics
• Robotics

The teaching units must be available university-wide. Classes / courses should also be able to be taught in English as needed. Furthermore, the ability and willingness to participate in integrative, practice-oriented, and internship-related teaching units are required. If necessary, the appointee may be required to teach classes / courses related to the field of appointment.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, the appointee must independently conduct research and development in the field of appointment, help shape the internationalization and further development of the discipline, and assume responsibilities in academic self-governance. In addition, commitment to applied research projects and to technology and knowledge transfer is expected.

Appointment Requirements

Requirements for appointment include a completed academic degree, demonstrated pedagogical aptitude in teaching or training, a special aptitude for scholarly work—typically evidenced by the quality of a doctoral dissertation— as well as outstanding achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods during a professional career of generally five years, at least three of which must have been spent outside the higher education sector.

Reference is made to the Saxon Higher Education Act of May 31, 2023 (SächsGVBl. p. 329), as last amended by Article 2 of the Act of

January 31, 2024 (SächsGVBl. p. 83).

The following knowledge and skills are required

• a completed academic degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline,
• evidence of special aptitude for in-depth, independent scholarly work (generally to be demonstrated by an above-average doctoral dissertation relevant to the field),
• demonstrable alignment of the professional career with the content and responsibilities of the professorship,
• the ability to foster our students’ professional identity, impart relevant subject knowledge, and demonstrate an understanding of the discipline’s specific challenges (pedagogical and didactic aptitude), with relevant teaching experience required,
• Experience in applied research and knowledge transfer,
• Experience in the design, establishment, and accreditation of degree programmes, as well as in securing external funding, is advantageous.
