Substitution of a professorship/W2 "Didactics of German and German Studies with a focus on Literary Studies" - Reference: 33-2025 LA German -

The position includes the representation of the above-mentioned professorship in teaching and research, in particular with the following focal points:

• Inclusive didactics in the subject of German,

• German studies in the entire breadth of the subject with special consideration of literary studies.

The person holding the position (m/f/d) is expected to teach other basic courses in the degree program in addition to the courses relating to the above-mentioned focal points. Teaching duties are to be carried out in lectures, seminars, exercises, (school) practicals and projects. If necessary, courses in areas related to the area of appointment must be taken on.

The following knowledge and skills are required

• A successfully completed academic university degree in German (teaching degree) or in a related German studies program (e.g. German studies, German philology, literary studies, linguistics, cultural studies),
• a proven pedagogical aptitude in teaching or training in the university sector as well as corresponding teaching experience, experience in university teaching for student teachers and a focus on content,
• demonstrable reference of the professional career to the contents and tasks of the professorship, at least 3 years of (school) practical experience is useful if the professorship is to be made permanent and can be acquired pro rata during the period of substitution,
• special aptitude for academic work, which is usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate, preferably in the field of German didactics, German studies or related disciplines with a school-related focus,
• Familiarity with the curricula and educational standards for the subject of German at secondary level,
• Experience in applied research and knowledge transfer,
• Ability and willingness to teach in English.

Reference is made to the Law on Universities in the Free State of Saxony (Sächsisches Hochschulgesetz - SächsHSG) of May 31, 2023 (SächsGVBl. 2023 No. 12, p. 329).

Proof of special achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods, which is usually demonstrated by five years of professional practice, of which at least 3 years must have been spent outside the university sector (§ 59 para. 1 No. 4c SächsHSG in conjunction with §59 Para. 5 Sentence 1 SächsHSG), can also be proven by additional academic achievements (§59 Para. 1 No. 4a in conjunction with §59 Para. 3 Sentence 2 SächsHSG), e.g. by a habilitation or equivalent academic achievements.

• Independent performance of research and development tasks in the area of appointment,
• active participation in the internationalization of the university and the further development of the subject area,
• participation in research priorities and transfer projects of the HSZG, in particular participation in the university's third mission,
• Ideally, experience in the conception, establishment and accreditation of study programs as well as in the acquisition of third-party funds,
• assumption of academic self-administration tasks.
